Horizons

The purpose of Horizons is to see children, teenager's and adult's lives changed for the better through provision of employment, training, educations and opportunities for personal development.

The aim of Horizons is to work primarily with those who are marginalised in their communities by establishing projects that empower individuals to access opportunities which will improve the quality of their lives.

How did this come about?
After extensive children and youth work, leisure and recreational initiatives in the local and international community, a team of individuals decided to build on their experience by establishing a charity with which a wider vision for work could take place.

Charitable status
Horizons achieved charitable status in July 2006 after setting up the Joseph Project, an initiative originating from the congregation, to provide land and water for sufferers of famine.

The mission of the charity is to

  • Reduce poverty and hardship;
  • promote and enable healthy living through sustainable social enterprises
  • empower individuals and communities to achieve their full potential
