I have been thinking how answers to prayer frequently cause difficulties and problems! We pray for patience and Yahweh sends demanding people and situations our way; we pray for a submissive spirit and He sends suffering, so that we learn obedience as Yahshua did, ‘…from what He suffered…’ [Heb. 5:8] We pray for gentleness and soon find ourselves facing a storm of temptations to be harsh and irritable; we pray for more faith and life explodes around us.
Or we pray to be more like Yahshua and someone ‘cuts us out’ when we’re driving home tired and pre-occupied! ‘Was that road rage?’ I ask myself in horror as I throw myself before Yahweh begging forgiveness. Wretchedness sweeps over me, and then I’m facing a new challenge; am I going to sink under my misery, or am I going to face up to just how much I need Yahshua’s likeness to shine through in every situation? Can I thank Him for exposing my weaknesses? Can I bow to His growth plans for me?
As this week unfolds consider how Yahweh may be leading you into greater maturity as you face up to its trials and challenges. Let Him have His way – it’s so different to ours.
We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
