I have learned that the peace of Yahweh can be, in my heart, like the ‘cushion of the sea’, a deep-seated serenity that no external difficulties, pressures or disturbances can reach. His Presence is a hiding place from the winds of life and a refuge from the storms that blow up in our world. [Compare Isaiah 32:2] Anyone who enters the Presence of the Almighty can share in that amazing, undisturbed and undisturbable calm. Do you experience this peace? If so, you know it’s an ‘in spite of’ and not a ‘because of’ peace; in other words we can know it in spite of the difficulties that life throws at us.
Entering the Presence of Yahweh and learning to live there is a lesson that begins in the time we spend with Him personally. A. W. Tozer calls it ‘the holy task of cultivating [Yahweh]’, and I love that. Yahweh can only be known satisfactorily when we devote time to Him, and this takes more than a few minutes a day. Spiritual progress is directly linked to a growing knowledge of Yahweh, and that is linked to our personal experiences of the Almighty. Quiet times with our Father are endlessly important. Don’t let the distractions of life woo you away from our King – take time to entertain Him!
And [Yahweh’s] peace…which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in [Messiah Yahshua]
