Thought For The Week 16
Earlier this week I was reading the work of a respected Bible teacher and pastor who wrote that ‘if we believe we may even now [meaning in this present life] enjoy the Presence of Yahweh.’ [Brackets and italics mine] As he was writing for believers I was startled and saddened that he should find it necessary to make such a statement. I naively thought that a consciousness of His Presence was something all who trusted in Yahweh routinely experienced in the ‘now’. Do you enjoy His Presence?
Those of us who sincerely keep the Sabbath Day holy and prepare our homes and hearts to enter into its sanctity, are guaranteed to enjoy this life-enriching Presence every week. We frequently call it ‘the Sabbath spirit’ and it ‘happens’ as surely as the sun sets. But it is Yahweh Who sanctified the day and so the bottom line is that the Sabbath spirit is His Presence enveloping His day for all those who, having prepared for it, settle in to fellowship with Him. It is just one of many ways to enjoy the Presence of Yahweh in the 21st century; and it’s guaranteed!
For in six days [Yahweh] made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why [Yahweh] blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.
