Who is He, this Being who loves us so much He sacrificed His only, much-loved Son to pay the huge ransom demanded to restore us to His Family? He is love, joy, peace, redemption, forgiveness, and a multiplicity of goodness! He existed before the universe was created; He holds its entirety in His own hands. Astonishingly, we can know Him, speak to Him, hear from Him, and walk with Him. It is one of the great mysteries of salvation.
Knowing this side of our beloved, caring Father, it can be easy to slide away from understanding the fullness of His personality. The Old Testament clearly outlines His mercy, compassion, and awesome majesty. Yet we see, too, evidence of the fury of His rage, the finality of His judgements, the remorselessness of His punishments. Which is the correct image? We read that Yahweh gets hurt, feels rejected and crushed, experiences jealousy, has times of grieving. Who is He? All these emotions contribute to the fulness of His personality. Humanity not only looks like Yahweh, but was given the full range of His emotions [Genesis 1:26]. He understands us because we are like Him!
When we look around our world and see the pain, suffering, darkness, sin, turmoil, and trouble, we cry, “Where is He?” He looks on - and grieves as we do! However, His Majesty keeps His word; He gave us free will and allows us to use it. He seldom imposes His will on creation, but I believe He anguishes over many of our choices.
When Israel walked in obedience, Yahweh’s loving care was immeasurable and they prospered abundantly. When they were rebellious He gave them multiple warnings before punishing them as He had warned [Leviticus 26:1-18]. In the time of Ezekiel Yahweh was furious with Israel [Ezekiel 5:11] but He was also crushed by their rejection [6:9]. His punishment was terrible. We should tremble at the thought of falling into Yahweh’s hands when He is angry. His love is vast, but His anger is terrifying.
We may be comforted by the glorious knowledge that to those who love Him and keep His commandments, Yahweh promises steadfast love and an abundance of mercy.

If you feel that your life is in a rut. If you feel trapped by anything that you can’t seem to get out of. [Yahweh] is the [Elohim] of wonderful change. He will release you, whom the Son sets free is free indeed.
