Thought For The Week 48
I have been keeping Yahweh’s Feasts since the 70s and one of the things that blesses me is how, alongside the blazing prophetic imagery, there is always a relevant practicality. The literal ‘hunt’ for leaven at Passover and its exclusion from home and diet for the duration of the Feast, reminds us again and again how vigilant we must be to keep our lives free from anything that could contaminate.
It soon becomes apparent that as well as our annual ‘spring clean’, Yahweh promotes an ‘autumn clean-up’, too. He binds into our lives a second season of heart-searching as we consider the ancient rituals of Yom Kippur laid out in Scripture, and reflect on all that Yahshua has done to bear our sin once and for all.
Holiness is a hallmark of Yahweh’s people and we are involved in an ongoing process that ensures we experience its reality in an ever-increasing measure. There is no room for complacency, but there is room for a quiet confidence. Through His prophet Yahweh said to us, “In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” [Isaiah 30:15] When we bring our failings and our brokenness to Yahweh He will heal and forgive and we will be released to grow in holiness and to rejoice before Him!
