Reflecting on Yahweh’s wonderful works the psalmist, Asaph, wrote, “Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters…” [Psalm 77:19 KJV]. The people of Israel could never have anticipated that, having delivered them from the nightmare of slavery, Yahweh would lead them through the Red Sea. Even after the astonishing events in Egypt they still went into petrified panic when they found themselves confronted by the Sea, and heard the noise and felt the vibrations of 600 chariots thundering up behind them. Trapped!
But Yahweh immediately protected His People by His Presence, a huge cloud that was darkness to the Egyptian army, yet light to the multitude of Israel, [how did He do that?] and then proceeded to make a huge highway through the Sea itself. [It’s a great story – Exodus 14] It was a totally unexpected way out of the problem!
Yahweh often leads us out by unexpected ways, He easily creates an infinite variety of paths and can make them anywhere. So if it seems as though you have moved away from a secure, solid base and you are out upon the shifting sea, trust His protection and ingenious plans. Yahweh is never lost! “Mystery and uncertainty,” writes an unknown author, “are only to prepare us for deeper discipline. Had we no stormy sea we should remain weaklings to the end of our days.” Remember, Yahshua walked to His disciples through the storm and on the boisterous, heaving water! [Matthew 14: 23-32]
“O fathomless abyss of [Yahweh’s] rich bounty, of His wisdom, of His knowledge! Who can explore His decisions? Who can track out His paths?” [Romans 11:33, Arthur Way]
