Bible Reading: Things to think about!

There are certain methods to help you read and digest the bible, here is a list of things to think about and make notes on, which will help you to understand and remember a scripture, and also use what you learn in your every day life! Happy reading!

What it meant Then:(If you are using a Youth Bible, you can use the Book openers at the beginning of each book, as well as sidelights to help with these questions.)

  • Who was the author, when and why was it written?
  • What kind of writing is it? i.e., Story, Poetry, is the writer using symbols and pictures? If so, what do they mean?
  • Why did the Author put it like this?
  • Was it written for a particular person, or group of people?
  • What would the first readers have understood from these words?
What it means Now:
  • What is Yahweh saying to me through this passage?
  • What should I do?
  • What does it say about me or my situation?
  • What does it say about my relationships with Yahweh and with others?
  • Is there any special command, promise, warning or example that I should take notice of?
