A Passion For Souls

Just imagine Yahshua opening a door and you receive this ‘Narnia-like’ experience where you get to see the fate of those who leave this life without knowing Yahshua as their Saviour. It’s awesome! People have had such an experience and it has changed their lives; it has moved them to act differently toward the unsaved.

The Plight of the Lost

The reality is hundreds and thousands of people around us are making their way into a lost eternity – a fate too terrible to describe. The devastating thing is that fact doesn’t seem to have penetrated our hearts. The vast majority of us have not had a ‘Narnia-like’ experience and so we don’t act like people who’ve had an awakening. We’re not moved by the impending plight of souls who are yet without Yahshua.

Our heavenly Father is desperately concerned about the lost. He doesn’t want anyone to perish – but that’s exactly what is going to happen to those folks if they’re not reached. The Father is keen for all to come to repentance and receive eternal life so He’s patient and holding back His judgement, giving every opportunity for people to come to Him (2 Peter 3:7-10, 15). Yes, the majority of people in our culture are ignorant of God; ignorant of the Gospel, and dismissive of believers – but still Yahweh loves them and is eager for them to be saved before time runs out.

Share the Father’s Passion

The Father has been patiently waiting for us, His servants, to be awakened to the fate of the lost. He wants us to be so touched by their plight that we’ll stop at nothing until He rescues them. We need to share the Father’s passion for the lost! Do you have any kind of passion to see the destiny of the lost reversed? Passion is a powerful motivation. It has the effect of driving you forward, breaking through barriers; climbing over obstacles; pressing through problems in order to get done what is in one’s heart. If we’re going to be part of His rescue mission we need to share the Father’s passion for the unsaved.

Let’s consider seriously: How often do we think about our neighbours, friends, work colleagues, and family members concerning the fact that they may spend eternity – forever without Yahweh in utter misery, pain and anguish, with no let up! Knowing what we know about eternity, put yourself in their shoes – wouldn’t you want somebody to tell you what was waiting for you if you didn’t change course? Sure you would! We need to share the Father’s passion in telling sinners of His love and desire to redeem them.

Do What’s Needed!

Here’s what we need to do. Go to the Father and pray. Seek Him! Ask Him, if you like, for a ‘Narnia-like’ experience that will cause you to be impacted by the plight of the lost. Ask Him to wake you up to their fate without Yahshua, and to fill your heart with His passion. Yahshua said, “Ask and you will receive.” So, go ahead and ask! When we’re awakened we will look at, and behave differently toward, those who don’t know Yahshua. We’ll love enough to go out of our way to connect with them. We’ll love enough to speak; to show compassion; to give our time; to dare to share with them; to be ridiculed for Gospel’s sake. Keith Green was absolutely right when he famously said, “This generation of believers are responsible for this generation of souls on earth.”

So, wherever you are – on the bus, in the supermarket, at the doctor’s surgery, at school, college, work, home, on the street corner – look at the lost with the passion of the Father. That passion will drive you to go to their aid.

For [Yahweh] so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:13-15

Yahshua said, “. . . I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of [Yahweh] over one sinner who repents.” Luke 15:10

Dear Father, so many people in our communities and towns don’t know you and cannot see any need to have you in their lives. They have no clue about your love for them and what you’ve done in order that they might have eternal life. I know in my head that if they don’t turn to you they’ll end up in outer darkness, forever excluded from your Presence. I don’t want to ignore their fate. Please make my heart like yours – faithful in sharing your love and passionate in carrying the message of hope to them. Father I want to be part of your rescue mission.

Pause For Thought

We need to stop worrying about some things in life. [Yahweh] is on our side. He is behind us, with us and ahead of us.
