Quietly, unexpectedly, in the cool of the morning, my heart floods with gratitude, welling up in appreciation for the abundance of loving kindness with which my beloved Father continually blesses me. The phrase, ‘an abundance of loving kindness’, echoes in my spirit and, unbidden, a scripture fills my mind: “It is because of [Yahweh’s] lovingkindnesses that we are not consumed” [Lamentations 3:22; Amplified Bible].
Yahweh sent His beloved Son to rescue us from the bleakness of sin and its consequences, so we won’t be consumed by the eternal death that awaits those who refuse to believe in Him. His mercy and loving kindness are beyond comprehension. He is magnanimously beneficent!
We are weaklings! We stumble, we fall, we make mistakes; we argue, we fight, we disappoint. And still His loving kindness is abundant! Time after time, He reaches down, lifting us up - forgiving, healing, changing us. His loving kindness sweeps over us with the generosity of rolling waves on the seashore. As steadily and consistently as the waters wash all the beaches in the world twice every day, so does our Father’s faithful love tend to our needs, sweeping us clean, again and again. It is because of this mercy that we are not destroyed! It is because of His kind love that we can grow and mature, until the beauty of Yahshua shines out of us.
Yahweh is looking for a holy people, preparing hearts to be part of His royal priesthood, and the apostle Peter told us that “His divine power has given us everything that is needful for a life of piety, as we advance in the knowledge of him who called us” [2 Peter 1:3; 20th Century NT, italics added]. Through the power of Yahshua’s blood we have been given a new ‘self’, “created to be like [Yahweh] in true righteousness and holiness” [Ephesians 4:24]. He delights to create pure hearts in us, renew us with steadfast spirits, grant us willingness, and constantly restore the joy of our salvation [from Psalm 51:10-12]. Out of the abundance of His loving kindness, He provides everything we need to maintain lives of holiness and victory.
