Delighted With Him
Thought For The Week 56
My thoughts flew to Zephaniah 3:17, “For [Yahweh your Elohim]…will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” (NLT emphasis mine) Yahweh was speaking to Israel, and as part of New Covenant Israel I am daring to take this thought into my own heart; daring to expand it to an understanding that Yahweh is ‘much delighted’ in us! What an incredible, beautiful, heart-warming, peace-bringing thought! It fills me with a deep sense of awe and stillness. But then, of course, I must ask, ‘Are we – am I – equally delighted with Him?’
I must admit that ‘delight’ is not a word I generally associate with how I feel about Yahweh. The dictionary tells me it means ‘to please greatly’ or ‘to take pleasure in’; or it can mean ‘extreme pleasure’ or something that causes this. I am delighted with Yahweh…I roll the idea round in my mind; it makes me smile. Yahweh is my delight…the thought surfaces in my heart;
I love it. Let me leave it with you for this week; be delighted in Him!
Delight yourself in [Yahweh]; and He will give you the desires of your heart.
