His Royal Majesty

Thought For The Week 311 By Val Warsop

The book of Revelation is often spoken of as being the revelation of John, but the introduction tells us clearly that it is, in fact, the revelation of Yahshua.  It asserts that Yahweh gave it to Him to pass on to His servants, and confirms that Yahshua communicated with John through an angel [Revelation 1:1].  It’s an astonishing, incredible ‘last word’ from our beloved Messiah.  Parts of it are still totally incomprehensible to us, but it’s threaded through with glory and splendour and the most extraordinary descriptions of a place beyond our finite understanding.

Magnificent creatures and angelic beings gather in Yahweh’s throne room, offering praise and worship continually [4:6-8].  Thousands and thousands of voices offer paeons of choral praise that must surely have thundered around the throne [5:11-14].  There are fabulous descriptions of all that’s being prepared for those who are overcomers [chapters 21-22].  And then there are the stunning descriptions of Yahshua!

Yahshua was John’s Best Friend; he knew Him very well.  He’d seen Him dusty and tired; hungry and thirsty; laughing and sad; kind and angry; brimming with life and fast asleep in a boat.  But the first time John saw Yahshua in heavenly majesty he collapsed on the floor at His feet [1:17].  John did his best to explain what he saw, but it seems human language is very inadequate.  At first he described Yahshua’s voice ‘like a trumpet’ [1:10], and then ‘like the sound of cascading waters’ [1:15]. His face was ‘shining like the sun in full strength’ and His feet were ‘like fine bronze as it is fired in a furnace’ [full description: 1:12-20].  It’s hard to imagine, but John was awed and overwhelmed, and Yahshua was spectacular!

Later we see a picture of Yahshua as a Lamb, and learn more about the importance of His death [5:1-7].  We hear heaven sing His praise [15:3-4] and voices thunder with joy [19:6-8].  We see Him as a Bridegroom and a noble, mighty Conqueror [19:11-18].  We see Him exalted, noble, glorious, worshipped, and adored; and we know Him as the One who has befriended us!

Pause For Thought

We need to stop worrying about some things in life. [Yahweh] is on our side. He is behind us, with us and ahead of us.
