In Him We Trust

Thought For The Week 473

As the year draws to a close, there comes time for reflection.  What did the waning year bring to my life?  Memories stir as we reflect on good times and sad ones, on losses, gains, victories, defeats, joys, sorrows, loneliness, pain: events from a whole range of human experience.  We all have a story to tell and each one is individually crafted around the person we are.  Personal stories are fascinating and I love to listen to them, especially when Yahshua is the central figure.  No matter how different the stories may be, I’ve noticed a common thread: Yahweh’s faithfulness!  When I look back over 2024 my heart lifts in wonder and gratitude as I see that every day, in every way, He was always there! We echo the words of King David, “I trust in [Yahweh], so why should I be afraid” [Psalm 56:4]?

As we stand at the threshold of 2025 our world is filled with darkness. Wars, natural disasters, hate-fuelled riots, famines, millions starving, multitudes displaced, to mention only a few. We’re living at the end of the age, and Yahshua told us things would become even more difficult before He returns.  Our hope, our trust, and our confidence must be entirely in Yahweh.  Let’s say with the psalmist, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust” [Psalm 91:2].

When Israel was in trouble, the king of Assyria sneered, “On whom are you depending” [Isaiah 36:5]?  Israel’s King Hezekiah was depending on Yahweh, and his prayer unlocked deliverance! Yahweh swept in and rescued His people [Isaiah 37:36-37]. Prayer changes things!  We may be living in the end times, but Yahweh is more than able to take care of us.  King David wrote, “My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “[Yahweh], I am coming”” [Psalm27:8, New Living Translation].

I give you, for 2025, a beautiful thought from Charles Spurgeon: “We trust in Him whose power will never be exhausted, whose love will never cease, whose kindness will never change, whose faithfulness will never be sullied, and whose perfect goodness can never know a reduction.”

Let’s talk to Him!

We look at our lives through a spiritual lens now, as we see how our actions as husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, friends and coaches, workers and employers relate to [Yahweh's] will.
