It was an ordinary morning, a regular period of Quiet Time, and I lifted my heart in prayer and thanksgiving. As I began to worship Yahweh, I had an unexpected, mind-blowing vision of His majesty and magnificence. I saw Him peerless, unique, exceptional beyond imagination, pulsing with creativity, artistry, and design, throbbing with energy, power, and originality. I knew Him to be unrivalled in every area known to humanity, and in all those yet to be discovered! I saw Him incomparable, yet eminently available! He is neither above us nor beyond us; He is with us! Brimming over with mercy and compassion, with loving care and tenderness, He is our Father. Better than the best of fathers, more caring than the most devoted of mothers, He is unrivalled yet reachable! How could I ever fully comprehend the enormity of this? Or understand the magnanimous condescension that chooses to love and care for us. All the superlatives in every language would be insufficient to describe Him.
When you think about Yahweh, what is He to you? A.W. Tozer was wont to say, “What comes into our minds when we think about [Yahweh] is the most important thing about us…” It’s important to have a right conception of the Most High, and an ever-increasing knowledge. We know that Yahshua said, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father” [John 14:9], so we know they are alike! Time spent getting to know Yahshua will increase our understanding of His Father.
Getting to know Yahweh is the journey of a lifetime, but it’s never too late [or too early] to begin. “Oh, that we might know [Yahweh],” cried the prophet Hosea! “Let us press on to know him” [6:3]. Each of us can enjoy a satisfying and exciting relationship with Him. The profound variety of personality, interests, intellect [and much more] found in humanity is in His own nature so He can satisfy us all. He communicates with us as we communicate with each other, through our minds, wills, and emotions. He will meet us where we are and extend our knowledge of Him through familiar channels and comfortable avenues. He is diverse enough for each of us to be delighted!
