The Bible describes Yahweh’s Word as ‘alive and active’ or ‘living and powerful’, able to get right inside us, make changes, bless and encourage us [see Hebrews 4:12]. Have you experienced this? You may be reading a familiar scripture and, suddenly, it seems to come alive for you, speaking directly into your heart, your situation or your need. The modern generation calls this having ‘a light bulb moment’, but it’s so very much more. It's the Word of Yahweh being made alive in our hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Recently a word from Psalms flooded my heart with joy and life: “He is my faithful love…” [Psalm 144:2, Christian Standard Bible]. I paused to savour these words. They’re so beautiful, and for me were a complete expression of my life with Him. I whispered them over again; they filled me. I thought back over the years of my life, and I murmured to Him, “You have been my faithful Love!” Isn’t it a precious thought? He’s an ever-present, never-failing, Rock of stability and strength, and He’s a loving, caring, bountiful Provider of needs. My faithful Love!
The verse continues, “…and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in him.” All we need is to be found in our faithful Love. We may call on Him at any time and from anywhere; He’s always aware of us, knows where we are, understands every circumstance, and is completely acquainted with all our failings and weaknesses. There’s no place we can find ourselves and not find Him! We only need to call His name; our faithful Love and our Deliverer!
For more than seven decades I’ve experienced the care and attention that comes from my faithful Love. His blessings are bountiful, His provision unfailing, His mercy incredible, and His faithfulness incomparable. Yes, I’ve known difficulties, dark places and heartache, for “It is necessary to go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God” [Acts 14:22]. But my faithful Love has always been there, guiding, protecting, enfolding me in His love; changeless, trustworthy and constant!
