The little one peacefully asleep on my lap was not quite three months old, and breathtakingly perfect! As millions have done before me, I looked at the little hand curled trustingly around my finger and marvelled at its tiny perfection and miniature nails. “How did you make this?” I whispered, with a sense of awe. Babies are miracles, aren’t they? So perfectly created yet growing from an embryo the size of a poppy seed. It’s awe-inspiring! No wonder King David cried, “I have been remarkably and wondrously made” (Psalm 139:14, Christian Standard Bible). Later, he reflected, “Your eyes saw me when I was formless” (v16). It stills my heart to think Yahweh was aware of me from the moment of conception!
King David, songwriter and prophet, pursuing this thought, concludes, “…all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began” (v16). Awed, I absorbed the amazing thought that Yahweh, invested in my life from the womb, had planned all my days! Planned? What – all of them? Wait! But David wrote this! The one who committed adultery, arranged a murder, spent years running and hiding from the king who wanted him dead? Had Yahweh planned all that? A sobering thought. I don’t believe Yahweh plans evil for us. However, I do believe His plans include space for us to make personal choices. Yahweh didn’t need to know how David would react to temptation and stress, but David did.
Life throws problems, difficulties, weakness, temptation, and suffering in some form or other at all of us. Yahweh wants us to discover ourselves for ourselves, and in doing so experience His faithfulness and power. He may rescue us from the storms, or He may walk through them with us. He’ll allow us to make mistakes and teach us valuable lessons from them. He’s intimately acquainted with us and able to fashion everything together for our good (Romans 8:28). Lay that difficult situation with all its problems and perplexities before Yahweh. He’ll meet you just where you are. Trust Him. He has plans, and they’re perfect.

This Is My Friend!Blessed is the person who places his confidence in Yahweh and does not rely on arrogant people or those who follow lies.
Psalm 40:4, Names of God Bible
No matter what happens to us in this life, the word of [Yahweh] tells us that [Yahweh] is for us, not against us.
