As we listen to daily news programmes, we’re assailed with the discord, anger, bitterness, and discontent which pervades the world in which we live. Humanity finds it challenging, almost impossible, to live together in harmony. Men and women are fearful as they see how carelessly and contemptuously life is treated. There’s only one answer to this towering need – the Prince of Peace. Those who love, trust and follow Him are filled with the peace He gives, and this kindles unity, bringing people together in life-enriching harmony.
“How good and pleasant it is,” cries King David, “when [Yahweh’s] people live together in unity” (Psalm 133:1)! How precious such unity would have been to David whose earlier life had been plagued with so much fighting and war. Psalm 133 was one of the ancient songs that, traditionally, would have been sung by pilgrims as they journeyed to Jerusalem for the major feasts. It’s possible David wrote it while watching the people gather for just such an occasion. Perhaps it was the beauty and richness of such harmony which moved his poetic heart to continue joyfully,
“It is like precious oil poured on the head,
running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard,
down on the collar of his robe.
It is as if the dew of Hermon
were falling on Mount Zion.
For there [Yahweh] bestows his blessing,
even life forevermore.”
When the exclusive and expensively created holy anointing oil (Exodus 30:22-25) was used to anoint the High Priest it wasn’t used sparingly but was poured out so lavishly it flowed over the head, down through the beard and onto the garment of the recipient.
Mount Hermon in the far north of Israel is a massive, snow-capped peak famous for generating heavy, life-sustaining mist, condensation and an abundance of dew. King David imagines this abundance watering the dry, southern hills of Mount Zion and Jerusalem – and watering them lavishly!
The peace which defines followers of Yahshua is also a lavish gift, found only in Him. We maintain its harmony by living close to Him in humility and peace. “For there,” David tells us, “Yahweh bequeaths His blessing, even life forevermore.”

This Is My Friend!Blessed is the person who places his confidence in Yahweh and does not rely on arrogant people or those who follow lies.
Psalm 40:4, Names of God Bible
No matter what happens to us in this life, the word of [Yahweh] tells us that [Yahweh] is for us, not against us.
