What will the New Year hold? What will its challenges be? Will I have the strength, the courage to face whatever comes my way? Probably not! We are human in our hopes and fears, aren’t we, and sometimes life makes us tremble! Young people facing exams, adults hunting for jobs, men and women looking for love, parents worrying about children, older folk facing retirement, life continues to ‘happen’ all around us and to us.
There really is only one safe place to be as we approach 2015 and that is in the centre of Yahweh’s will. Do you have a sense that you are exactly where He wants you to be? It may not be an easy place and, if you are like me, you will be aware how often you fail Him, yet if we are yielding our lives to Him, allowing Him to lead us, and offering Him heartfelt obedience, I believe we are in a safe place!
My mother use to say, “In the pressures of Yahweh’s purposes His people are perfected.” It was a wise understanding of life gleaned from her deep experiences and has steadied my heart through many a difficulty. I offer it to you for 2015, together with the certainty that no matter where you find yourself you will be safe if you are, first and foremost, in Him!
And a man shall be as a hiding place from the wind and a covert from the tempest…as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
