Yahshua returned to Yahweh from the Mount of Olives, near Jerusalem. After His final words and blessing, “he was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took him out of their sight.” It’s no surprise they were riveted, staring up into the sky! As they tried to assimilate the shock, two white-robed men appeared asking why they were staring. Before the disciples could react, they added, “someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!” [see Acts 1:4-12]. Did the disciples remember Yahshua Himself had told them this [Matthew 24:30; 26:64]? His personal description of His coming ‘on the clouds of heaven’ includes ‘with power and great glory’!
Hundreds of years earlier, Zechariah prophesied, “On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which…will be split in half from east to west, forming a huge valley, so that half the mountain will move to the north and half to the south” [Zechariah 14:4]. It’ll be an extraordinary event! The apostle John added another staggering detail: “Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him” [Revelation 1:7]!
I grew up learning about Yahshua’s promised return, dramatic arrival, and the catastrophic sundering of Mount Zion. I so hoped I’d see it happen, but I puzzled as to how, living in England, we could witness His arrival in Israel? I became used to the scoffers who mocked these claims as ridiculous. I’d no idea how it could be, but the Bible said it, so I believed.
I was 23 when the first global TV programme was broadcast, viewed live in 31 countries, with an estimated audience of 400 million. The coronation of King Charles attracted a similar number. Sometime between these two events, I realised [with a shock] this was how the whole world would witness Yahshua’s return – satellite TV! The stunning changes to lifestyle over the past century came about because scientists ‘discovered’ powers in the universe which always existed! Yahweh will always be way ahead! When His Son returns, it won’t be an unassuming entrance into a humble home in Bethlehem, but a powerful, cataclysmic event broadcast live from Jerusalem to the entire world!
Will it happen in 2024? It may!
