Prince Of Peace

Thought For The Week 519

When we accept Yahshua as Saviour we’re immediately cleansed from sin. We’re justified, transformed, and moved from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light.  As the burden of wrongdoing falls away, peace and love fill us with joy.  It’s a lifechanging experience!  It can come as a shock, however, to discover there are things about us that haven’t changed.  Life continues to unfold and we still have problems, hang-ups, issues.  Why? What about the scripture, “old things have passed away…all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17)?  Why do we still have ‘old’ problems?

The ‘old’ which has ‘passed away’ refers to the pile up of wrongdoing, the sin which accumulated in my life before I met Yahshua, because of the basic sin-problem I inherited from Adam.  The debt of sin is cleared (Colossians 2:14), and the seed of sin removed when we meet Yahshua, but we’re still the same person who came to Him.  The new life He’s given needs to be worked out in every area of our humanity.  We have hidden needs; we bury or suppress things; we may have deep areas of smothered pain.  Such things are responsible for unexpected outbursts of anger, periods of depression, surprising prejudices, personal hang-ups or unexpected reactions.  If you’re struggling with one (or more) of these reactions, it’s time to seek Yahweh’s help.

‘Shalom’, an everyday greeting in Israel, is a remarkable word.  In simple translation it means ‘peace’, but it also means 'be safe’, referring to the mind, body or estate.  Locked into the word are ideas of health, happiness, prosperity, friendship, safety, rest and wholeness.  Isaiah prophesied Yahshua would be known as the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), and in this Prince of Shalom can be found all that the word means (and implies), which includes the answer to your problem.  You may need to talk to a friend, a minister or a counsellor for help to identify a hidden source, before seeking prayer.  Remember, openness and honesty will open doors of healing and wholeness.

Living and walking with Yahshua promotes wellness, wholeness, security, and prosperity as His shalom permeates our whole lives.

We look at our lives through a spiritual lens now, as we see how our actions as husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, friends and coaches, workers and employers relate to [Yahweh's] will.
