The apostle John was a close friend of Yahshua’s, enjoying the intimacy of an inner circle of three. He spent three years in Yahshua’s company, loved Him dearly and is even recorded as leaning on Him during the Last Supper [John 13:23]. After Yahshua’s resurrection, Yahweh gave Him a revelation of some things He wanted His servants to know [Revelation 1:1]. It blesses me that Yahshua chose to share the revelation with His beloved John, entrusting him to pass it on to us.
John, it seems, was given a conducted tour around heaven and shown all kinds of remarkable things, many of which defied description. In his writings he shares fascinating insights, describes electrifying scenes, and faithfully records descriptions of things which are to come. He alternately thrills, informs, inspires, delights, terrifies and confuses us. Revelation is a complicated book, but we need to grasp that it’s full of things Yahweh wants us to know!
Recently, I’ve been absorbed by the astonishing record of what happens to our prayers. “Then another angel with a gold incense burner came and stood at the altar. And a great amount of incense was given to him to mix with the prayers of [Yahweh’s] people as an offering on the gold altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, mixed with the prayers of [Yahweh’s] holy people, ascended up to [Yahweh] from the altar where the angel had poured them out” [Revelation 8:3-4].
Let’s pause a moment and imagine this picture: the golden altar before Yahweh’s throne, an angel collecting up the prayers of His people [how?], mixing them with incense and offering them, burning them with holy fire, to create a perfumed cloud of smoke billowing up before our Father. Every sincere prayer is included in those offerings. I believe repeated prayers are continually mixed with incense and offered again and again. Do you ever feel weary, wondering, when answers are delayed, if He has heard? Yahweh wants you to hold this picture in your heart. This is a revelation He wanted you to know! We can be entirely confident our prayers are heard, respected, cherished, collected, and never forgotten.
